Pittsburgh police were called to Perry High School on the North Side following a fight Monday afternoon.
Pittsburgh Public Schools Director of Public Relations Ebony Pugh said a student deployed pepper spray into a group of five men, leading to a physical altercation.
Pugh said city and school police intervened, leading to officials using their own pepper spray to stop the altercation.
Students who were affected by received care from the school's nurse.
One school police officer was taken to the hospital due to the ongoing effects from the pepper spray.
Pugh said the parents of the students involved have been contacted.
