(DAVIESS CO., Mo.) A St. Joseph, Mo. man and inmate in the Daviess County jail has been charged after being accused of attacking two officers.
According to documents filed in the Daviess County, Mo. Circuit Court, 53-year-old Ronnie L. Rice has been been charged with multiple felony charges of assault. Rice, an inmate in the county jail, allegedly attacked correction officers before being hit with pepper spray multiple times.
The chargers were filed on Friday, Oct. 18 after the incident occurred on Oct. 12 according to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.
According to the sheriff's office, two detention officers attempted to bring Rice out into a hallway when he attacked them. Court documents said both officers were taken to the ground as they wrestled for the can of pepper spray. Law enforcement officials said the pepper spray was thrown to another corrections officer who was able to spray Rice. Both officers were injured and required medical attention.
As of Monday morning, Rice remained behind bars and no bond has been listed. He is facing two counts of Class A felony assault.
