A student was found with a stun gun at a school in north Charlotte, according to

A student was found with a stun gun at a school in north Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District.

CMS said a student brought a handheld stun gun, designed to look like a cell phone, to Druid Hill Academy.

The stun gun was able to get past a weapons detector before another student alerted a staff member, according to a CMS spokesperson.

The spokesperson said the staff member then found the device and contacted law enforcement.

The principal of Druid Hill Academy said an investigation is underway.
