Ballistic gear was stolen from a police vehicle parked overnight last week in Falls Township.

A Lower Makefield Township command officer’s vehicle that was parked in the Pennsbury Heights neighborhood was among a number of vehicles in the area that were broken into, according to Falls Township police Lt. Chris Clark.

The thefts from the police vehicle and other cars nearby are believed to have happened last Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Ken Coluzzi, Lower Makefield Township’s police chief, said various law enforcement items, including a ballistic vest and ballistic panels were taken.

“No weapon was in the vehicle at the time,” Coluzzi said.

Falls Township police continued to investigation the theft.

3. Always park your vehicle in a well-lighted area at night.4. Always make sure you receive an ownership certificate when purchasing a used vehicle.

8. When possible, park your vehicle in a secure garage. 9. Beware of your surroundings prior to leaving your vehicle.
