BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of using a stun gun on her adult autistic son at Kern Medical is considering pleading no contest to all charges for a court-indicated sentence of time

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman accused of using a stun gun on her adult autistic son at Kern Medical is considering pleading no contest to all charges for a court-indicated sentence of time served, felony probation and parenting classes, her attorney said.

The possible resolution in the case against Tisa Armijo was mentioned in court Thursday by her defense attorney Mark Anthony Raimondo. Armijo, who is out of custody, was present.

Afterward, Raimondo said they’re considering all options ahead of Armijo’s next hearing on Oct. 30. He said it’s possible she could enter no contest pleas — or they could take the case to trial.

Armijo is charged with felony counts of allowing or causing injury to a dependent adult and false imprisonment with violence, and a misdemeanor count of being a felon in possession of a stun gun.

In July, security guards and a nurse at Kern Medical reported seeing Armijo use a stun gun on the son in a pre-operating room. Police detained her in the hospital’s parking lot and found the weapon in her purse.

“(Armijo) expressed surprise that hospital personnel reported her to the police as she believed they had no issues with her using the stun gun on (her son), as she had used it the day prior in the emergency room waiting room,” a court filing says.

Armijo told investigators she previously pepper-sprayed the son and kept him locked in his bedroom, releasing him only to eat, bathe and use the bathroom, according to a filing.

Raimondo said the son, who has the mindset of a 2-year-old, is “an incredibly strong young man” prone to violent outbursts he can’t control. He said Armijo is not guilty of the charges, and was trying to subdue her son during a fit.
