The top Donald Trump impersonator in the world, John Di Domenico, has been advised by pals to don a bulletproof vest at his gigs due to safety fears. Brought to fame with his non-political comedic takes on the ex-President, Di Domenico points out the rising political divide means he now needs bodyguards for events.

The comedian's interactions with the public have shifted dramatically since Trump went from "a game show host" to a political figure. His concern escalated after an incident where Thomas Matthew Crooks targeted Trump with an AR-15 in Pennsylvania.

Furthermore, Di Domenico, who’s been mimicking Trump for over twenty years and has appeared globally at various functions, had a frightening experience when an angry Liberal fan attacked him in a hotel lift in Vegas. With emotions running high, Di Domenico says: "People say if you're doing anything outside, be careful, you better wear a bulletproof vest."

He added that some warnings were semi-serious because an attack is conceivable: "I've got that from semi-serious people, because you never know if someone wants to do another assassination attempt."

Underlining the potential risk, he continued, "Not on me but because I am like an avatar for him, it is not out of the realm of possibility that something could happen.", reports the Daily Star.

Addressing mistaken identity dangers, he remarked, "All you need is someone to think I'm him."

"I don't feel that I'm going to be shot at, but in today's environment, you just don't know someone wanting to make a point."

"And it could be on both sides because one of the things is people think I'm mocking him, and then you have people think I am him until they get close enough and see that I'm not."

John has made appearances in Hollywood films and global TV shows as Trump, delivered speeches at the European Parliament, and entertained millions.
