A 41-year-old driver was arrested after he allegedly pepper sprayed three men in a moving truck at a red light in Denton on Thursday.

At about 1:33 p.m., a Denton officer was dispatched to a disturbance in the 3100 block of Ottowa Lane.

The officer spoke with a Denton County deputy constable. He reported he was in the area when a brown truck approached his vehicle from behind at a high rate of speed and nearly struck his vehicle.

Then, he said, a yellow Penske truck approached similarly and nearly struck his vehicle, too.

Both vehicles stopped, and the occupants spoke with the officer.

The three men in the Penske truck reported that the driver of the brown truck had pepper sprayed them. They all had visible injuries from the pepper spray.

The men told police that the driver was upset with them because he was unable to pass their truck during a moving service.

When the men told him to turn around and go a different direction, the driver threw a rock at them but missed, they said.

After they finished the moving service, the men started to drive off. They said that the driver followed them. At a red light, they told police, the driver got out of his vehicle and pepper sprayed them through the window.

The officer placed the driver under arrest and charged him with three counts of assault causes bodily injury.

From 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, the Denton Police Department handled 408 service and officer-initiated calls and made 18 arrests.
