Extreme Enduro machines are a different bread! These bikes encounter things hat the average weekend warrior would never come across and have to be built accordingly. Colton Haaker is one of the best riders the USA has ever produced in this discipline of racing and we got the chance to talk with his mechanic Andrew Bauer about his 2023 factory Rockstar Husqvarna TE 300 I .
At first glance Haaker's race bike looks like your average bike sitting on your local Husqvarna dealership floor with some bolt-on parts and cool Rockstar Energy graphics. Looks can definitely be deceiving !
The FMF exhaust system that Haaker uses is close to what the general public can buy, the team does have multiple custom options but Haaker prefers the option closest to what FMF offers to the masses.
The engine is built in-house by Husqvarna Factory Services so the attention to detail is next level but we are told they use all OEM Husqvarna parts internally with the exception of Rekluse clutch internals.
IMS Products has been a longtime sponsor of the Husqvarna factory off-road effort, Haaker uses the new Core Pegs with a very aggress tooth design only available to IMS premier athletes . These things will shred a pair of boot soles in record time but when keeping your feet planted is a must they more than do the job.
For Hard Enduros the Rockstar Husqvarna team uses a gummy version of the Dunlop EN91. This tire is the same tread design as the popular DOT approved Dunlop tire used on the World Enduro racing circuit and ISDE but with a softer rubber compound designed to improve traction on just about any type of terrain.
The mapping is done in-house just like the engine building and can change depending on different event locations or conditions.
The SXS composite skid plate provides protection of just about the entire underside of Haaker's machine starting at the front of the engine and going to the rear shock linkage located right in-front of the rear wheel.
A TM Designworks Slide-N-Glide system is used because they are almost indestructible and some additional protection to the rear chain guide mounts on the swingarm is provided by a billet aluminum bracket from Bullet Proof Designs.
Other items included on Haaker's TE300I include WP Suspension Pro Components Cone Valve fork, Trax rear shock, Guts Racing light weight seat foam, Guts Racing gripper seat cover, Pro Taper sprockets, Pro Taper Handlebars, Pro Taper Grips, Hunt Racing rear rotor guard, RK o-ring chain, Twin Air filters, Decal Works Graphics and the Motion Pro specialty tools to help with the bike building process.
