Two 'non-students' arrested at Leon High, one had stun gun

Leon High School has seen yet another weapons arrest – but this time the culprits were students from another school.

District spokesperson Chris Petley said students who attend another high school locally arrived at Leon's campus Monday morning in a rideshare vehicle.

Principal Michael Bryan sent an email to parents shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, saying that during the first class of the day, two "non-students" were stopped at the school's guard shack at the entrance to campus, where school resource deputies questioned and searched them.

"One was in possession of an electronic stun gun. The two have been arrested and removed from campus, and no one else was involved," Bryan wrote in the email. The students were arrested on charges of trespassing on school property and possession of a dangerous weapon.

It comes a week after a 14-year-old walked into a Georgia high school and shot and killed four people. Since then, the county's school district has been hypervigilant in its efforts to keep campuses free of weapons.

But this isn't the first incident at Leon High this school year:

Also, the very next day, a 17-year-old was found with a steak knife in her backpack at Rickards High School. All of those incidents resulted in arrests by the Leon County Sheriff's Office on charges of felony possession of a weapon.
