GLASGOW, Ky.- South central Kentucky law enforcement agencies are continually updating their resources to enhance community safety and support their officers.
The Glasgow Police Department recently introduced a new pepper spray designed to benefit both law enforcement and suspects during confrontations.
Ten officers, along with the Glasgow police chief and fire chief, conducted tests on the innovative spray and observed significant improvements. Chief Guy Howie noted that while the new spray causes temporary blindness, it is less painful than traditional options, allowing for better control of resisting suspects.
“The new formula makes you close your eyes but doesn’t burn as badly as old spray,” Howie stated, emphasizing its effectiveness in managing potentially volatile situations.
In contrast to the original pepper spray, which affected breathing as well as vision, this updated version provides a safer alternative for everyone involved.
With these advancements, fighting crime becomes a little safer, benefiting both officers and the community they serve.
Such proactive measures underscore the commitment of local law enforcement to adapt and evolve for the betterment of public safety.
